Tug is a 5 year old black male who came in when his family could no longer care for him. Tug was never on Heartworm preventative or tested for tick borne diseases before coming to MAGDRL. Tug tested positive for Heartworm and has a very heavy heartworm load. Tug was very thin when he came in, his foster home has been working on putting some weight on him but he hasn’t really gained. We did quite a bit of diagnostic testing to be sure he has no underlying medical condition. He does have an enlarged prostate but cannot be neutered until he has his heartworm treatment. Tug needs to be on crate rest for the next 3 months as he starts his heartworm treatment. He has a wonderful foster home who is doing an amazing job caring for him.
Tug celebrated his fifth birthday this month (June) and got birthday cake stuffy from his foster home which he loves. Tug is the sweetest boy, he loves everyone he meets, his tail never stops wagging! He is great with both dogs and cats. We want to do everything we can to get Tug healthy. He is a big tall boy with a big block head that you just want to smooch.
