FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!

Adoption/Foster Requirements

Great Danes thrive as indoor companions, so we require they live inside and shouldn’t spend extended time outside without supervision.

We feel adopters should have a fenced yard, more about our fencing policy can be found here.

All interior stairs in the home must be covered in slip resistant tread

To ensure the best match, we ask that everyone in your household—including your dogs—visit the foster home for a meet-and-greet before adoption. This may be nearby or a few hours away, depending on the dog’s location.

The entire family must be committed to the care and well-being of the dog.

Current dogs in the household must be spayed/neutered

TAKODA - ADOPT ME!

Adoption/Foster Procedures

The process begins by submitting a completed adoption/foster application.

After we receive your application, we first check your references and vet history.

Once your references have been verified, one of our volunteers will reach out to do a phone interview.

Prior to one of our volunteers coming to your home, you will be required to sign a liability waiver and release.

We visit the homes of all potential adopters, to ensure they can provide a safe and secure home for one of our Danes.

Once the above steps have been completed, your chapter coordinator will review everything and contact you regarding the status of your application.  If you’re approved to adopt or foster, we’ll help you find the dog that’s the perfect fit for your family.

All adoptions are finalized with a legal contract signed by both Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League and the adoptive family.  Approved foster families will sign a foster contract.

Our adoption fees are: $450 for dogs under the age of 6, and $325 for dogs over the age of 6.
