Beau

Beau came to us after his owners were unable to rehome him following a divorce. Beau has had some bad experiences in his past–first as a young puppy he was run over with a car that broke his left back leg. His second home was with a single mother and children, who hit him and broke his tail, and had to be splint in order heal straight. He was rescued from that home by a couple whom recently got divorced and were unable to keep him. He spent his last few months outside in a kennel and attacked by fleas and ticks, and contracted Lyme disease- which is being treated. 

Following his rescue by MAGDRL, Beau has received all vaccines, worm, Lyme and flea/tick treatments and he was neutered. He is starting to put weight back on and his skin sores are clearing up. 

Beau has an unusual chocolate color rare in Danes, however his mom and dad were full Dane with brown coloration (see photo of them). Beau is very smart and knows “sit”, “down” and “shake” and “give me 5” commands.

Beau loves to play with toys, long walks and loves his head and ears rubbed. He will lay his head on your lap for as long as you want to rub him. Beau is a big baby and loves lots of attention.  He will playfully “yip” if you ignore him.

Because of past abuse by young children, he would do best in a home with no small children- that is only adults or late teens. He can also be bit shy with some female adults and may need to meet and get to know you first. 

Beau will chase some cats and ignore others- we don’t recommend placing with cats unless there is a barrier or supervision. 

Beau gets along well with other dogs or strangers that he meets on the leash. He doesn’t pull overly hard, but could use some leash training. He can be food protective around other dogs and should be fed separately. 

Beau gets along with other dogs, but is very playful, and sometimes that can turn into rough play. 

Beau will make a wonderful loving dog and would do very well in a home that can give him the attention he deserves. He will readily return your love and affection and will be a loyal, 4-paw member of your family!
